For our Pay It Forward this month, we are offering this 8.25" Scorched Mulberry Chef in support of Athens Parent Wellbeing. Founded by Monira Silk, Athens Parent Wellbeing offers so many resources to parents in NE Georgia. After I had my daughter and was having a rough time postpartum, I reached out to this group for support. Here is just a snapshot of what they offer: free therapy, first of all. Through their non-profit, if a person need therapy as a new parent (or any kind of parent) and can’t afford it, they can receive free or reduced-cost therapy services. APW also offers peer support and one-on-one mentoring between experienced and new parents, breastfeeding support groups and classes, early childhood development classes, and supplies for low-income folks like diapers, formula, and baby clothes. I attended several of their new mom play groups where I sat on the floor with my daughter Ada along with other new moms and just talked about our experiences and let our babies stare at each other. Athens Parent Wellbeing is really a life-saver.

Monira Silk and her team also run ReBlossom, a baby clothes and supplies shop, where people can get used baby-supplies at a lower cost. The funds from ReBlossom go toward supporting Athens Parent Wellbeing. Since I’ve had my own child and have seen how hard it is to be a new parent, I am so thankful that this organization exists.
